What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.

Things are Just Peachy, When the Sky is Blue

In todays sunny climate, it was scorching! Having to run errands, I needed to feel free from restrictions and feel whatever little breeze I can while walking around the town. As I stepped into my closet this morning, I was undecided by what to wear. Do I wear shorts, yet again? Do I wear those beautiful strappy sandals? Or how about that cute, bubbly skirt that has yet to be out of the house? I was so undecided on what to wear, I was ready to give up. Until, I turned, and my eyes caught sight of the bright blue that was hidden behind a row of dresses. It dawned on me that I haven't worn this dress in ages, and today would be the perfect time to take it out for some sunlight and fresh air. Big accessories were out of the question today, just because I wanted an outfit with a bit more leniency. I wanted to be playful, so I decided wooden bracelets would be my best option. To finish the look, I added my gladiator, nude sandals, and my natural curly hair to boot. It was the perfect summer outfit, with a touch of simplicity.

- Today, I went to a book store to see if they had those books I was talking about in the previous post. They didn't, but I did find two equally appealing books that I decided to buy instead. I also gave in my baby. For those of you that don't know, my baby is my car. The breaks are acting up, so I had to give it in today. Hopefully by tomorrow, it'll be back with me, and we'll be reunited!
Well, enjoy!

To Be or Not to Be

"What should I study when I enter college," is the question that's been haunting my very thoughts ever since I stepped into High School. As my senior year draws closer, I need to start fully thinking about my talents and what I envision myself doing 20 years from now.
At first, I was completely irrational and just wanted to head to New York and take life as it gets handed to me, but to be honest, that's not the rational choice. Florida has been my temporary home for years now, and three more years will give me the experience to create a portfolio, improve my drawing/ sketching skills, and take more courses in colors, lighting, sewing, etc.
You've guys probably guessed it, I would love to be a fashion designer, preferably with my own label. I'm one of those girls that know I want to do more then one thing. I'm a girl that enjoys multitasking. I'm a girl that takes stress and changes it into time well spent creating a master piece. I'm one of those girls that has big aspirations and when my heart is set on it, I'm not easily able to give up.
Fashion designing would be my dream job, and I'm starting early (according to most people).
These books are at the top of my list to get ahead in life, and they provide insight on how to enhance my techniques as well as how to build and create my own style.
In addition to the books I'm displaying here, I'm also displaying some of my drawings as well as a recent assignment that I worked on last semester in my photo class.
Enjoy!

Expanding The Color Palette

The ever-so satisfying color that never seems to go out of style is black. The reason is unclear to me, other then the fact that it gives the "slim" and "curvature" appearance. Black also is a color of elegance and grace. Unfortunately, it's also a morbid and cynical color that does nothing for our aura or chi. The words colors is a plural word, which defines a meaning of more then one. Each color can be matched and mixed-matched to others, and every color has the capability of becoming elegant without the use of the color black. Summer is here, so it's time to go out and enjoy the night life, but not welcome the dark colors of winter. Harness the color wheel and use your intuition and keen sense of detail to be able to see which colors compliment each other to the point where nothing clashes.
In this picture, I'm on my way out to a friends Birthday Dinner. I decided to be daring and bold by wearing two colors that many people wouldn't necessarily but together to go out for a night on the town. Expanding the color palette, and acknowledging other colors is a step closer to more appealing outfits, and compliments everywhere you go.
Use the colors, they're obviously there for the eyes enjoyment.

Time to Make Things Fierce

As we explore fashion, we explore the different trends that come into style, the trends that move their way out of style, and the classic looks that never fade away. Something that's fierce and catches everyones attention is the animal prints. From prom to a day out on the beach, zebra, cheetahs, and giraffe prints are being acknowledged as a new "old" fashion trend. These prints go in and out of style with every generation that's born, and every new trend invented, but animal prints seem to be one of the many fluctuating trends. An infamous trend that have girls saving up their paychecks just for a new item are cheetah prints. The cheetah prints have evolved, and now they've targeting bags, shoes, napkins, scarves, headbands, etc, etc. Cheetah prints have been taking over a wide variety of merchandise.
Luckily, strutting down the mall's pathways, I noticed a beautiful, different looking dress on a mannequin display. The only one of my size, was the size they had, and it was a perfect fit. I decided that it was time to evolve and get myself a cheetah print that didn't involve being advertised on the inside of a shoe. This dress wasn't too wild, but wasn't too subtle. It gave that "WOW" impression, especially pairing it off with these beige, peep-toed heels.
I definitely felt fierce walking into class, ready to handle my assignments, and sink into reality.

Clothing Leads Somewhere

"When one door closes, two others open," so the saying goes. Well, what if the door that closes is the one that needs to be reopened at another point in your life? Clothes have the ability to stay in your closet for years and years, never to be touched. Some clothes have the ability to be worn any chance they get. It's harmless to wear the same clothes over again, just so long as you do it discreetly. Things that should be in everyone's closet, is a little black dress and solid color clothes, this way you can mix and match, add or take away accessories, and it'll look like you just went on a shopping spree.
The eye gets drawn into color, patterns, and designs. Solid, colored clothing keeps the eye interested, but doesn't commit each single piece to memory, appearing as though you have a wider selection of clothing, then you actually do.
Registering for summer classes was a pain, but knowing that I looked good made me feel just as confident when entering the Administration office.

Casual Nights

As the suburban lights dwindle and the streets become dark, I tend to go outside and observe the night life. It usually consists of dogs walking their owners, couples running side by side, or the moon high up in the sky. While observing, I usually do this in my days outfit. Many people that walk by and see me taking pictures, might pose, or stop and engage in conversation with me. I live in Florida, and the weather is terribly hot and humid! A hat for the humidity is always the perfect accessory in this weather, and shorts and tank-tops are a must. They don't have to look trashy, and they don't have to be terribly short. Living in Florida, you grow up learning what's too much, and what's too little. Outfits are usually dependent on the climate.
This day it was especially hot, even at night... These are my casual nights.

A Thousand Things to See

In one place, there could be millions of sights to see, each with a different meaning, and each able to take your breath away. Now, memory should not limit us to whether we remember these moments, so cameras come in great handy.

The sweet whispers of the wind, the cherry blossoms on a tree,
These are the things, that I would place unto thee.
With the passing moments, that increase the clock,
Each moment lived is determined by a tock.
Though our thoughts may wonder, while our eyes may roam,
We continue to place distance in reference to the home.
It's a subliminal message that is only hinted,
The true sight to see is the light that's glinted.
To struggle and see an image to be appeared,
We finally open our eyes and it becomes clear.
Not everything is etched or written in stone,
But memories are what latch to us, to call our own.
